Pretty much covers the options
The type of riding you plan to do will narrow your focus on what type of bike. Since you’re riding in the NRV, would make sure it has low gearing.
Do you mind riding in traffic? Some people hate riding around automobiles with distracted drivers texting.
If you want more comfort, stay away from the “skinny tire” bikes.
If I would venture a guess, would say to look at a mountain bike or hybrid. Haven’t seen a “gravel” bike, but it’s probably in the same general category.
Once you decide what type of bike, you need one that fits.
Don’t fall for the “hard sell” at a bike shop. Visit multiple bike shops and ride different bikes at each place. You’ll eventually find what’s best for you.
Go to Amazon now & buy a helmet. I prefer the ones with a visor. (Current helmet doesn’t have one, and I miss it). You’ll want one when you start your search.
Don’t worry about options like clipless pedals, you can always add those down the road...
If you get sticker shock at the bike store, you can always look at used bikes. Lots of them are in great shape. Walk away from abused bikes.
